Even today, after so many years have passed since Nintendo and SEGA battled for the living room, it still strikes me as a little odd to hear SEGA execs heaping praise on their once bitter rival. It’s almost as weird as when I think about Mario and Sonic competing in the Olympic Games later this winter. *shudder*
Today, SEGA’s North American president — who is not actually Dr. Robotnik, I was surprised to learn — Simon Jeffrey told MCV that “Wii’s low development costs will mean that third-party output on the system will be noticeably more original than that on Xbox 360 and PS3 for the next two years.” (more…)

Surly not all game store clerks are douche bags? That’s right (as told by one Infendo reader) and don’t call me Shirley!
Seth tells the tale: I left work and headed to my local Game Stop… I immediately went up to the clerk and asked if there was any Metroid games left. His response: “Reservation?” So I was out of luck, but I got to talking to him and he was nice enough to actually check the shipping schedule to see when the next shipment might be. No avail there either.
He then mentioned that the Wii kiosk was actually playing the full game. I finished the first objective and went to give the wii-mote back to the clerk when I noticed a copy of MP3 on the counter. I was like “What is this?” He says “Metroid.” I say, “I know that but I thought you were all sold out.”

Stuntman: Ignition vuole dare una vetrina a questo settore dopo il tentativo, peraltro non molto riuscito, del 2002. L’ hype che si era creato in quegli anni non ha saputo confermarsi e probabilmente è anche per questo che l’utenza appare piuttosto tiepida nei confronti del sequel. (more…)

That green computing is so hot right now! Well, in the data center (geeky IT alert…) it is anyway, but it’s also cool to see that the little white box that’s changing gaming forever is sipping power, instead of gurgling it.
Using a device called a Kill A Watt, Takahashi learned that the Wii consumes just 17 watts of energy, compared to the PS3’s 171 watts and his 360 Elite’s 194 watts. To give you a bit of perspective, Takahashi’s 42-inch plasma TV (drool) burned 200 watts and his fully loaded Gateway FX530 gaming rig consumed 266 watts.
Lucky for that PS3, it’s hardly on, so no worries there. And anyone else feeling the irony about that HD television drinking all that power while sitting over the Wii? Sometimes life is funny all by itself even without some crazy video game exec opening his mouth.
The Wii: Good for the environment, great for gaming.

The Nintendo Wii has become the UK’s fastest-selling home console in history, with 1 million units sold in 38 weeks. It was 50 weeks before PlayStation 2 hit the 1 million mark, while Xbox 360 took 60 weeks to reach the same target. According to Chart Track, the Wii now has a 68 per cent share of the UK home console market. The Nintendo DS also continues to perform well and has an 86 per cent share of the handheld market.

E coinvolgera’ a settembre una delle maggiori multinazionali del mondo: la IBM.
I sindacati mantengono il massimo riserbo, ma riteniamo che gli effetti saranno eclatanti.
IBM, presente nel mondo con oltre 300000 dipendenti, di cui 9000 in Italia, da tempo propone sui mass media una decisa campagna sull’ innovazione. (more…)
